Network Points and a Stable Network for a Smart Home: What Do You Need to Know?

Updated November 1, 2026

A good smart home starts with a stable, reliable network. Cameras, TVs and the computer that runs the home work best over a wired connection, and the rest of the home needs WiFi that covers every room. Proper planning of network points and access points saves a lot of problems later on.

Why is the network so important?

Almost every component in a smart home communicates over the network. When the WiFi is weak in a particular room, the controller there responds slowly or disconnects, and it feels like "the smart home doesn't work", even when the problem is only coverage.

What is worth connecting by cable?

WiFi that covers the whole home

One router in a corner of the apartment is not always enough. Rather than boosting power, it is usually better to have several cable-connected access points spread around the home. That way coverage is even and devices move between them smoothly.

Network points in an existing apartment

When there are no free conduits, we check existing routes, low-voltage conduits or alternative solutions. Network and low-voltage points are part of our work, and if electrical work is required, it is carried out by a licensed electrician.

A tidy network cabinet

Gathering the modem, the switch and the equipment in one tidy, ventilated place makes maintenance and troubleshooting easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a smart home with WiFi only?

Yes, but coverage needs to be good throughout the home. Cameras and the computer that runs the home are better connected by cable.

What is PoE?

It is a technology in which the same network cable carries both data and power, for example to a camera. That way one cable per camera is enough.

Does a range extender solve coverage problems?

Sometimes, but cable-connected access points usually give a more stable result.
